Srinagar: Consequent upon the completion of the prescribed term of the existing office bearers, elections for the posts of President and General Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (JK EJAC) became due.
Accordingly, an Election Commission was constituted under the chairmanship of Shuhaib Munishi, with Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, Zahoor Ahmad, and A. Shafi as members. The Commission issued the election schedule and completed all requisite formalities strictly in accordance with the bylaws of JK EJAC.

During the nomination process, the Election Commission received two nomination papers, one each for the posts of President and General Secretary. Shri Wajahat Hussain filed his nomination for the post of President, while Shri Sajad Ahmad Parray submitted his nomination for the post of General Secretary. No other nomination papers were received within the stipulated time.
After scrutiny, both nominations were found valid. Since only one valid nomination remained for each post and there was no contest, the Election Commission, under the relevant provisions of the JK EJAC bylaws, declared both candidates elected unopposed.
Accordingly, Wajahat Hussain has been declared elected unopposed as President, JK EJAC, while Shri Sajad Ahmad Parray has been declared elected unopposed as General Secretary, JK EJAC. Both shall hold office for a period of three years commencing from January 20, 2026.
The formal announcement of the election results was made by veteran trade union leader, former General Secretary EJAC, Chairman Yakut Welfare Trust Tral, and noted social activist Janab Farooq Ahmad Trali .
Subsequent to the announcement, the newly elected President and General Secretary addressed a press conference and expressed gratitude to all constituent unions and members of JK EJAC for reposing faith in their leadership and for unanimously electing them unopposed.
They urged the Government to immediately resolve the long-pending issues of daily wagers, public sector employees, and government employees, in line with the assurances already made. The President, JK EJAC, reiterated that the employees’ struggle would continue in a united and democratic manner until all pending demands are fulfilled in letter and spirit.
