Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir former Congress J&K president and candidate from Banihal constituency, Vikar Rasool Wani, along with five other accused, has been found guilty by the court.
The court sentenced them to five months in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 1000 each.
During the 2012 Assembly elections, a public meeting was organized without permission at the Junior High School in Mithepur village of Gulavathi.
The court found the charges of violating the Model Code of Conduct to be valid and sentenced former Jammu and Kashmir Congress president Vikar Rasool Wani, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Sachin, Ikramuddin and Nazim to five months in prison and imposed a fine of one thousand rupees each.
Vikar Rasool is the Congress candidate from Banihal Assembly.
