Enquire on WhatsApp Srinagar: Thirty-five Kashmiri students at Mewar University in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, were suspended after staging a protest against university authorities over an unapproved nursing course. The students had been protesting for three days, around the clock, due to the university’s failure to obtain necessary approvals from the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC) for the B.Sc. Nursing course. However, the students claimed they were suspended by university authorities without any concrete resolution to their demands.“Many private universities in this country are a scam. This one needs to be probed and the interest of students protected. Hope the J&K government takes up their case with Rajasthan counterparts for urgent resolution,” PDP leader Nayeem Akhtar said in a post on ‘X’.“35 Kashmiri students at Mewar University, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, have been suspended amid their 3-day protest, day & night, against the university’s failure to secure approvals from the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) & Indian Nursing Council (INC),” said legislator and PDP leader, Waheed Parra.Meanwhile, the student body also urged Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, to act swiftly to ensure that the well-being and academic continuity of these students are not compromised. The demands of the students are straightforward: either transfer them to a recognized college or immediately secure the necessary approvals for the B.Sc. Nursing program without causing any loss to their academic progress. The body also urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to intervene and resolve this crisis, restoring hope for these young students. “Their future should not be compromised due to administrative negligence and delays,” it said.—(News Vibes of India)
