In a dramatic development, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, declaring an “Official END” to the 12-day war via his Truth Social platform. Trump stated that the ceasefire would be phased in over 24 hours.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that his government has agreed to a ceasefire with Iran.
However, Iran quickly denied that any agreement had been reached. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stated,
“As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around. As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations.”
He further clarified that if Israel halts its military aggression by 4 AM Tehran time, Iran does not intend to continue retaliatory actions.
“The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later,” Araghchi added.
The conflicting statements have left uncertainty around the ceasefire’s implementation, with global attention now focused on the next critical hours in the region.
