New Delhi: Amid swirling rumours on social media regarding the health of incarcerated separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, the Delhi Prisons Department has issued an official clarification, asserting that the inmate’s condition is stable and that he is receiving appropriate medical attention.
According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Officer of Delhi Prisons, Shabir Shah was referred to Safdarjung Hospital on June 26 for an OPD consultation related to complaints of lower urinary tract symptoms. Following medical advice, he was admitted to the hospital for further evaluation and diagnostic tests.
“All his medical reports have come back normal and appropriate treatment is being administered by doctors at Safdarjung Hospital,” the statement said.
Prison officials confirmed that the Tihar Jail administration has been regularly providing the inmate with required medical care, and dismissed the ongoing speculation regarding his health as unfounded.
The clarification comes in response to rumours circulating on social media platforms suggesting a deterioration in Shah’s condition. Authorities have urged the public not to be misled by unverified claims. [KNT]
