Army Recovers Rifle, Magazines and Rounds in Darkunjan Forest Boniyar
Srinagar: A joint party of 161 Territorial Army Battalion Ghantamulla, conducted a search operation in the forest area of Darkunjan village in Boniyar on Saturday and recovered an AK-47 rifle along with ammunition.
Officials told that the Territorial Army team approached Police Station Boniyar with a written docket, stating that the operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two magazines and fifty-four rounds of AK series ammunition from the forested location. The recovery was made during a routine area search aimed at tracking suspicious movement along the higher reaches of Boniyar.
Police said that no arrests have been made so far and that the recovered weapon and ammunition have been seized for further investigation. The circumstances under which the weapon reached the area are being probed, officials added.
In this regard, FIR No. 68/2025 under Section 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Boniyar and further investigation has been set into motion. [KNT]
