Sopore: In a remarkable initiative aimed at promoting sportsmanship and spreading awareness against drug abuse, a friendly cricket match was organised between the Sopore Media Association and Civil Society Sopore at the picturesque SRM Welkin School Ground, Sopore. The event was hosted under the banner “Say Yes to Sports, No to Drugs” by Chairman SRM Welkin School, Mr. Anaytullah Hajini, who took the lead in bringing together both teams for this noble cause.
The match was filled with thrilling moments as Civil Society Sopore batted first, setting a competitive target of 85 runs in 10 overs. In reply, Sopore Media Association fought hard in a nail-biting chase, but fell just 3 runs short, handing Civil Society Sopore a narrow win.
Despite the competitive spirit on the field, the core message of the match remained loud and clear: “Choose sports over drugs and illegal activities.” The event highlighted the importance of channeling youth energy into constructive activities like sports rather than falling prey to the menace of substance abuse.
On the occasion, Chairman SRM Welkin, Mr. Anaytullah Hajini, extended heartfelt congratulations to both teams for their sportsmanship and dedication. He lauded the players for not only entertaining the spectators but also joining hands to spread such an impactful message.
Players from both sides expressed gratitude to the organising committee for hosting the match in such a beautiful and inspiring atmosphere, making it more than just a game, it was a symbol of unity, positivity, and awareness for the younger generation.
