Srinagar, August 3: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested an official of revenue department in Khag area of Budgam district for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2000.
The official was identified as Fayaz Ahmed Shora, a senior assistant and incharge Nazir at Tehsil office Khag.
According to a statement issued, ACB said that a complainant approached ACB that Shora has been demanding bribe for doing small work. Accordingly a trap was laid and the revenue official was arrested while accepting the money.
The statement said that the complainant had some land dispute with his uncle and the case was being pursued with executive magistrate Tehsildar Khag and the accused was unnecessarily delaying the hearing. “He demanded Rs 2000 to expedite the hearing and listing the case. The complainant didn’t want to pay the bribe and approached ACB Srinagar to take action against the accused,” the statement reads.
During the trap laid by ACB, the accused was arrested red handed and money was recovered.
