Jammu, August 18: Days after Rajouri forests encounter in which one militant was killed and another was missing, the body of second militant was recovered by security forces today in Reasi forests.
The search operation was launched by Army, J&K police and Special Operation Group of JKP.
Giving details, defence spokesman Lt. Col. Suneel Bartwal said that Indian Army along with JKP and SOG have been continuing relentless operations in forest areas of Reasi District. “During the ongoing operations, Army and JKP deployed along the high ridge lines in forest area near DHAKIKOT on night of August 17 observed suspicious movement of unidentified persons.
“When one of the suspicious persons approached the deployment site and was challenged, he tried to escape. The Army troops readjusted their positions to prevent his escape. The terrorist was seen stumbling and falling down the cliff in dense forest. Party probed ahead, till the search was halted for the night due to inclement weather and dense forest area,” he said.
“During the search operation along with SOG and VDC members in early morning hours the dead body of a likely foreign terrorist was found in the forest area. Warlike stores have also been recovered from the terrorist,” he added.
The operation is still in progress.
