Handwara: Police in Handwara on Thursday attached the property of a Militant handler in Palpora village of Kralgund after investigations revealed his active involvement in guiding and facilitating militant activities from across the border.
Officials said the action was taken during the investigation of FIR No. 73/2011 registered at Police Station Kralgund. It was established that Nazir Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Kabir Ganie, resident of Palpora in Kralgund and presently based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), has been working as an operative of the proscribed outfit JKNOP and is engaged in handling militant activities in the Handwara area.
“As per evidence collected during the investigation, Nazir Ahmad Ganie has been found actively involved in guiding and coordinating Militant activities from PoK. After securing legal sanction from the competent authority, proceedings were initiated to attach his immovable property,” a senior police officer told KNT.
The attachment of the property was carried out in the presence of both police and revenue officials. Land parcels owned by Ganie in his native village Palpora were formally seized under relevant provisions of law. Authorities said the step is part of a broader crackdown on handlers and overground workers of militant networks operating with support from across the Line of Control.
Police maintained that such actions are aimed at cutting off logistical and financial support structures of militancy in north Kashmir. “These measures send a clear message that those aiding or abetting Militancy, even from across the border, will face consequences including the loss of property in Jammu and Kashmir,” the officer added.
