Jammu: JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra on Friday said that a National Law University should be established in both Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that there is nothing wrong in setting up premier institutions in both regions of the Union Territory.
Talking to reporters, Karra said that whether it is the health sector or the education sector, people of both Kashmir and Jammu should become equal stakeholders. “There is nothing bad in establishing an NLU or any other major institution in both Kashmir and Jammu. Balanced development is the need of the hour,” he said.
Responding to a question, the JKPCC chief said the judiciary appears keen to restore its lost glory and credibility. He referred to the recent stay on the UGC regulation, saying such interventions reflect the judiciary’s intent to uphold fairness and constitutional values.
Karra stressed that development initiatives should not be viewed through a regional or divisive lens and said institutions of national importance must serve people across Jammu and Kashmir without discrimination. [KNT]
