Budgam: Under the directions of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Budgam, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Budgam conducted a special traffic enforcement and awareness drive at Beerwah in Budgam district. The drive was carried out under the supervision of Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Amit Dhar.
The objective of the drive was to create awareness among drivers and the general public about traffic rules, road safety, and the importance of disciplined and responsible driving. During the campaign, vehicles were checked and commuters were sensitized about the mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding and drunken driving, and refraining from the use of mobile phones while driving.
The drive was conducted in the backdrop of a recent road accident in Beerwah town, where a passenger bus rammed into a shop but narrowly escaped causing a major mishap. In view of the incident, the department intensified inspections to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations and to prevent the recurrence of such accidents.
Speaking on the occasion, Motor Vehicle Inspector Amit Dhar stated that enforcement-cum-awareness drives are aimed at reducing road accidents and ensuring the safety of all road users. He appealed to the public to strictly adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with the department in promoting a safer and more responsible driving culture.
The Motor Vehicles Department Budgam reiterated its commitment to continue similar traffic enforcement and awareness drives across the district to strengthen road safety awareness and minimize traffic violations.
