Budgam: The Lambardar–Chowkidar Union Budgam on Saturday expressed serious concern over what it described as continued neglect of its long-pending issues during the recently concluded Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly.
The Union while staging a protest said that despite repeated efforts to raise and discuss their demands, no attention was paid to their concerns, leaving Lambardars and Chowkidars feeling ignored and marginalised.
Union President Sameer Ahmed Budgam said Lambardars and Chowkidars perform a crucial role at the grassroots level by acting as a vital link between the administration and the public. He said it was unfortunate that their genuine issues continue to be overlooked despite their contribution to local governance and public service.
Vice President Sheikh Mehraj appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take note of their grievances and intervene for early redressal. He said the Union had high expectations from the Budget Session, but the absence of any response or assurance has caused deep frustration among its members.
The Union urged Omar Abdullah to personally look into the matter and ensure that their concerns are raised and addressed at the appropriate forum.
Reiterating their commitment to public service, the Union said it remains hopeful that justice will be done and their long-pending demands resolved at the earliest. [KNT]
