Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that its air defence units intercepted an incoming American cruise missile and shot down two hostile drones over different parts of the country.
IRGC said the cruise missile was destroyed in central Iran, while two unmanned aerial vehicles were neutralized in the southern airspace. The interceptions were reportedly carried out using Iran’s integrated and advanced air defence systems.
The Guard Corps said that the projectiles were launched by US and Israeli forces and were aimed at critical infrastructure targets, though independent verification of the claims remains limited.
The development comes amid escalating military exchanges in the ongoing conflict, where both sides have reported missile strikes, drone attacks, and air defence interceptions across multiple regions.
Iran has repeatedly emphasized its growing air defence capabilities in recent days, with similar claims of downing drones and intercepting aerial threats reported from different provinces.
As hostilities continue, the situation remains fluid, with rising concerns over attacks on infrastructure and the potential for further escalation across the region.
