Sopore: A tragic road accident took place today near the Fruit Mandi Sopore Chungi, claiming one life and leaving another person critically injured after being hit by a speeding truck.
According to official reports, the accident involved a truck bearing registration number JK02BW-2197, which struck two pedestrians in the area. The deceased has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani, son of Nazir Ahmad Wani, a resident of Seadpora, Sopore. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot due to the severe impact.
The second victim, Shahid Ahmad, son of Hilal Ahmad Shah, resident of Naidhal, Baramulla, suffered serious injuries and was immediately shifted to SKIMS Soura for advanced medical treatment.
Police have registered a case under FIR No. 233/2025 and taken cognisance of the incident. Investigations have been launched to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances leading to the mishap.
Authorities have urged drivers to maintain caution and follow traffic norms to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
