Srinagar: Air quality across Srinagar has deteriorated sharply, with even relatively cleaner localities witnessing a significant rise in pollution levels. Rajbagh, considered one of the less polluted areas, recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 314, placing it in the hazardous category.
In several highly polluted pockets of the city, AQI levels are suspected to have crossed the 500 mark, indicating extremely severe air pollution. Similar alarming air quality conditions are being reported from other parts of Jammu and Kashmir as well, raising concerns over public health and environmental safety.
