Sumbal, Bandipora: Government Degree College (GDC) Sumbal, in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club and NSS wing, organized a vibrant “Mehendi Art Competition” as part of its SVEEP Campaign aimed at fostering voter awareness among the populace.
Themed around the “Importance of Voting in Democracy,” the event unfolded under the esteemed patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, underscoring the college’s commitment to nurturing a truly participatory democracy by urging all eligible citizens to exercise their voting rights responsibly.
Dr. Mehraj uddin, Head of the Political Science Department, kickstarted the competition by shedding light on the pivotal role of voting in democracy, emphasizing its potential to shape the nation’s future. Dr. Nuzhat Gull, Head of Chemistry Department, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing voting not merely as a right but as a civic duty.
The competition commenced with an informative orientation session led by Prof. Manzoor Ahmed Parey, who briefed the participants on the competition’s guidelines and regulations. Enthusiastic female students poured in, showcasing their artistic flair through intricate Mehendi designs, coupled with messages of empowerment and civic responsibility.
The event not only celebrated creativity but also served as a platform to instill the values of active citizenship and informed decision-making among the youth, ensuring a brighter democratic future for the nation.
