Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the deployment of twin-missile launch systems for the first time amid its ongoing military response to the United States and Israel, signaling a potential escalation in the conflict.
In an official statement released Tuesday, the IRGC said the latest wave of strikes involved coordinated launches using paired missile systems, marking what it described as a “new phase” in its operations. The strikes reportedly targeted multiple locations across central and southern areas of Israeli-controlled territory.
According to the statement, more than 30 sites were hit, including key urban centers such as Rishon LeZion, Petah Tikva, Be’er Sheva, and Tel Aviv. Iranian authorities stated that the operation utilized Kheybar-Shekan missiles, which are designed for precision targeting of strategic locations.
Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Mousavi, commander within the IRGC Aerospace Force, confirmed the introduction of the twin-launch system in a video message shared online. He indicated that the new deployment effectively increases strike capacity, describing it as a significant operational shift.
The IRGC further warned that additional and potentially more intense retaliatory actions could follow. The statement emphasized that a wide range of targets—including industrial, infrastructure, and military facilities—remain within its scope.
At the same time, Iranian officials maintained that their operations are directed at strategic targets and reiterated their position that Iran does not initiate attacks on civilian populations.
The developments come amid heightened tensions following the launch of what Iran refers to as “Operation True Promise 4,” initiated in response to recent military actions attributed to the United States and Israel.
