Leh: Kavinder Gupta has resigned from the post of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, just about nine months after assuming office. Gupta had taken oath as the third Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory on July 18, 2025.
According to official sources, Gupta stepped down from the position earlier today, though the reasons behind his resignation have not been immediately disclosed. His resignation brings an abrupt end to his brief tenure as the administrative head of Ladakh.
Kavinder Gupta, a senior political leader from Jammu, had assumed the role last year following his appointment by the President of India. During his tenure, he oversaw various administrative and developmental initiatives in the Union Territory.
