Bandipora: The Indian Army on Saturday carried out a swift and well-coordinated rescue operation after a civilian vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a water canal in the Nowpora area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, averting what could have turned into a major tragedy.
According to officials, the incident occurred when a resident of Bandipora, was travelling through the Nowpora region in his Bolero vehicle (JK 01B B-9101). Due to adverse weather conditions and the presence of black snow on the road, the vehicle suddenly lost control and skidded off the road into a nearby canal.
Showing presence of mind, he with the assistance of local residents, immediately contacted the nearby Bandipora Army Camp seeking help. Responding without delay, Indian Army personnel rushed to the spot along with necessary recovery equipment and initiated a carefully planned rescue and recovery operation.
The Army team ensured the safety of the civilian and successfully recovered the vehicle by employing standard recovery drills and strict safety measures. Officials said the timely and professional response of the Army prevented any loss of life or further damage.
Expressing his gratitude, he thanked the Indian Army for their swift action, professionalism, and humanitarian assistance during the emergency.
Locals also praised the Army for its prompt response and selfless service, stating that such acts reinforce public trust and confidence in the force. Residents said the Army’s readiness to help civilians in distress reflects its deep commitment to the welfare of the people.
