Gurez: The 16th National Voters’ Day was observed with enthusiasm and civic spirit at the auditorium hall of Boys Higher Secondary School, Da war Gurez, on Tuesday. The programme was chaired by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad, who led the celebrations and addressed the gathering.
The event witnessed active participation from all sectoral officers and staff, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, civil society representatives, and NCC cadets. Addressing the participants, the SDM highlighted the significance of National Voters’ Day and underscored the vital role of informed and responsible voting in strengthening Indian democracy.
Teachers and students delivered speeches centered on the theme “My India, My Vote”, with the tagline “Citizens at the Heart of Indian Democracy”, emphasizing democratic values and youth participation in the electoral process.
As part of the awareness initiative, voter education films were also screened on the walls of the auditorium to sensitize attendees about electoral rights and duties.
The programme concluded peacefully, reinforcing the message of democratic participation and voter awareness among students and the wider community.
