One-Year Workshop Underway in Chadoora with Support from RGF
Badgam: With the objective of reviving Sufiana Mausiqi training the younger generation, and ensuring the documentation and preservation of this invaluable cultural heritage, a first-of-its-kind one-year-long workshop is successfully underway in Hanjigund Chadoora with the support of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.
The project was launched on December 1, 2025, in collaboration with the Tulkul Arts and Media Collective at Hanjigund, Chadoora in Budgam district, and will continue until March 31, 2027. During the workshop young artists are being provided with both practical and theoretical training in Sufiana Mausiqi while senior teachers and researchers are introducing them to the historical, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions of this art form.
Rayes Wathori, Head of the Tulkul Arts and Media Collective and a cultural activist, described the initiative as a milestone for Kashmir’s cultural future. He stated that the project would reconnect the younger generation with their artistic heritage while also opening new avenues for dignified livelihood.
