Kathua: Days after an encounter in the area, security forces on Friday busted a militant hideout during a search operation in the forest area near Kamad Nallah in the Billawar sector of Kathua district.
The police sources said the hideout was traced by a team of the Special Operations Group Kough Mandli, Billawar, during a routine search operation carried out in the forest belt.
They said the hideout was located in a secluded forested area and appeared to have been used as a temporary shelter. Several items were recovered from the spot during the operation, though officials did not immediately disclose details of the seized material.
Security forces have stepped up search and area domination operations in the Billawar sector following the recent encounter, with an aim to sanitise forest areas and prevent any further unlawful activity. [KNT]
