Srinagar: The Special Crime Wing (Crime Branch) Kashmir has filed a charge sheet in a case related to fraud, forgery and destruction of evidence against a Public Works Department (R&B) employee who allegedly forged his date of birth to obtain illegal regularization.
Officials said the chargesheet in FIR No. 07/2022, registered under sections 420, 468, 471 and 201 RPC, was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Handwara on Thursday.
The case was initiated following a communication from the Under Secretary to the Government, Public Works Department (R&B), seeking investigation into the alleged fake date of birth of Abdul Rashid Lone, son of Mohammad Ahsan Lone, resident of Chogal, Handwara, working as a Helper in the R&B Division.
During preliminary enquiry, Crime Branch Kashmir found that Lone had allegedly prepared a fake medical certificate showing his date of birth as 01.04.1968 and used it at the time of his regularization. However, school records revealed his actual date of birth as 04.04.1950, contradicting the certificate he produced.
Subsequently, the Crime Branch registered a formal case and took up the investigation.
Investigators found that the accused, in criminal conspiracy, forged and used a fraudulent date of birth certificate to unlawfully continue his service and secure benefits of regularization. The probe established prima facie evidence of cheating, forgery, conspiracy and destruction of evidence.
After completing the investigation, the charge sheet was produced in court for further judicial proceedings.
The Special Crime Wing Kashmir reiterated its zero tolerance towards falsification of documents and fraudulent attempts to secure government benefits, asserting that it remains committed to transparent and uncompromising investigations.
