Srinagar: The second edition of the Kashmir Marathon 2025, organized by the Department of Tourism Jammu and Kashmir, concluded with great fanfare. The marathon began at Polo View Srinagar, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah participating in the half marathon, which concluded at Makhai Point. The full marathon concluded at Hazratbal Srinagar.
The winner of the marathon received a cash prize of ₹25 lakh, while the second position holder also received a significant amount. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who was present at the event, expressed his happiness to be a part of the iconic marathon.
“This marathon is crucial for Kashmir’s tourism, especially after the Pahalgam attack. It’s a great initiative, and I feel lucky to be associated with it,” Shetty said. He added that the event would send a positive message globally, highlighting Kashmir’s potential as a film destination and tourist hub, with many global athletes participating in the marathon. Shetty also noted that several films are currently being shot in the region, and the marathon is expected to boost tourism.
